Projects and Objects

DBxtra allows to organize your data by Projects.

Each Project has its own Data Connections, Object folders and Objects.

Create a New Project

To create a new Project click the New button on the menu.

Assign a Project name and define User Groups with privileges to view Objects from this Project.

Click Create.

Select a database connection option.

Hint: If you do not want to assign a data connection at this moment (you can do that later) then click the Cancel button.

The new Project will be created and can accessed from within the Project explorer.

 

Project Configuration

You can set a default configuration for each Project.

Click Config on the menu.

Define the default export directory.

Optionally define  the first day of week.

The default Connection Timeout and  Command Timeout are set to 15 and 30 seconds but you can change this values.

Click Save.

Delete a Project

To delete a Project select it in the Project explorer and click the Delete button on the menu.

You can also right click the Project and then click Delete.

Important! When you delete a Project all associated objects like folders, Queries and Reports will also be deleted.

Object Properties

To view  an objects property right click it and select Properties.

General

View and edit the object name.

View and change the objects data connection.

View and edit the objects comments.

Allow Anonymous Access in Report Web Service

This option allows to open a Web report without logging in.

Privileges

View and edit user group privileges for the object.

Object dependencies

View object dependencies - the current object depends on the listed objects.

Object References

View object references - other objects that depend on the selected object.

Rename Projects, Object Folders and Objects

Rename any Project, Folder and Object either by clicking the F2 key or by right clicking it and selecting Rename.

Assign a new name.

Hint: In case other objects depend on the selected object its dependencies will be updated automatically.

Delete Projects, Objects Folders and Object

Delete any Project, folder and object either by clicking the Delete key or by right clicking it and selecting Delete.
