Parameter Query

Define a Query as a Parameter Query where the user will be asked to enter Parameters each time the Query or Report is opened.

You can assign unlimited Parameters.

Select the field Criteria/Parameter and double click it.

Select a single Parameter

 

 

Enter any Operator and leave the "@Param" expression as entered by DBxtra.

 

Or click on the  Insert Parameter button.

 

Select a multiple Values Parameter

 

Click on the Insert Multiple Values Parameter button.

Note! Or use the IN Parameter to be able to select multiple values by holding down the SHIFT key.

 

Click Ok.

DBxtra will enter the Parameter into the "Criteria" field.

 

When running a Parameter Query or Report the user will be asked to enter a Parameter to filter the data.

 

Hint! You can choose to enter a value; load data from the database by clicking Show Values  or select All Values.

Note! Parameter Queries also apply to Reports and Charts.

If you design a Report based on a Parameter Query then it will act as an Parameter Report.

 

Customize Parameters

 

 

Alias

Enter a alias name to be displayed in the input field instead of the field name.

 

Default Value

To assign a Default select Default Value.

You can either manually assign a default value or click the List Values button.

 

If you click on the List Values button then a new window will pop up.

 

 

You can select any given value from that window.

Click the Query button for advanced configuration.

 

 

You can edit the underlying query for the default values just as you would do in the Query Builder.

For example you could alter the sort order for values in the Parameter window.

Option Show Values

 

 

Click  Option Show Values and click the button  Configure List Value.

Option <All Values>

 

Select the Option >All Values> checkbox if you want to show the All Values option in the Parameter window.

Password Type

 

If you select Password Type  than DBxtra will treat the field as such and will not the show the entered Parameter value.
