The DBxtra Report Web Service allows you to automatically publish your reports to a Web Server.
The Web Server can be on a PC, LAN or on a Internet Web Server.
Once a DBxtra Report Object like a Report, Data Grid, Pivot Grid is saved it can immediately be viewed through any Web browser.
The Report Web Service can be installed on an Internet Information Server (IIS) or on the internal DBxtra Web Server.
IMPORTANT! You need to have a Report Web Service license to be able to run it.

When you run DBxtra for the first time it will install the Report Web Service on the internal DBxtra Web Server.
Learn how to change the Report Web Service to run on an Internet Information Server.
In case your Report Web Service installation got broken you can repair it by clicking "Repair Report Web Service" button on the "Report Web Service" menu.
Run the Report Web Service by clicking the "Open Report Web Service" button on the "Report Web Service" menu.
This will open the Report Web Service in your default browser.
The DBxtra Web Server is a internal integrated Web Server.
The main advantage is that you don't need to have the Internet Information Server installed or configured on your PC or Server.

Internet access or production environment.
No need to install or configure the IIS - Internet Information Server.
Quick installation; ideal for trial use.
Might not be secure over the Internet.
Might be slower as the Internet Information Server.
Tip! You can later change from the DBxtra Web Server to the IIS - Internet Information Server..
All required files will be re-directed and updated automatically.
When you run DBxtra for the first time it will install the Report Repository on the internal DBxtra Web Server provided with DBxtra.

The Internet Information Server must be installed and running on your PC or Server.
Although the DBxtra Report Web Service installer will take care of the IIS configuration it might require some adjustments.
If you prefer to run the Report Web Service on IIS instead of the DBxtra internal Web Server follow these steps:
Select "Configure Report Web Service" on the "Report Web Service" menu.

Select "Internet Information Server" and click "Create Report Web Service".
This will setup the Report Web Service on your local IIS.
Server Requirements:
The web server has to have the IIS - Internet Information Server and the ASP. Net framework 2 + installed.
If you want to use the DBxtra Report Web Service on a shared hosted Server then you need to upload all files via FTP.
1. Copy and upload all files from your C:\Program Files\DBxtra .NET\Report Web Service folder.
2. Copy and upload to the root of your hosted Virtual directory the files:
DBxtraDB.mdb
DBxtraScheduleHistoryDB.mdb
Create a virtual directory.
Assign permissions for the ASPNET user.
Note! You might need to ask your hosting provider how to do that.
Each hosting provider has a different control panel.
